Let’s Roll 2024!

Another year has come and gone. Enter 2024. The hopes, dreams, and goals setting that the New Year ushers in for all the hopefuls who didn’t accomplish their goals in 2023.

2023 was a roller coaster of ups and downs for me. The sale of the “family” home to the purchase of my dream farm. From the isolation of my loss to traveling across the Atlantic on two separate trips. Quite the dichotomy of feelings and actions. But where do I go from here? Where do you go from here?

I was having a conversation with my son-in-law about our word for 2024. You know the word that will motivate or direct you through this new year. I suggested the word “Movement”. That’s a good word that implies action and getting things done, which is my goal. Or so I thought.

He replied, “A rocking chair moves, but it doesn’t go anywhere.”  

Silence…

He is so right. Everyone looked at me and thought I was moving forward, but I was just rocking in my chair, moving but not going anywhere.  

The funny thing is that I am constantly doing tasks, keeping busy fussing with the barn, cleaning the stalls, and fixing what needs to be fixed. But what I am not doing is taking action to get me to my real goal of opening the farm to help people discover their “What’s Next.”

“I need to roll, not to rock.”

So…I’ll go to the horses and do what they do in their herd. 

I will set a Direction paying Attention to what is around me with the appropriate amount of Energy while being Congruent of my feelings about the goal.

My words have yet to be set. The contenders are:

 Action. Building. Courage. Create. Heartfelt.

It will likely be a mixture of all these because I will need them all to walk through 2024.
